Dave Napierkowski

A SENSE OF BELONGING SINCE DAY ONE

Dave can still recall the love and attention that he received on his first Holy Cross tour more than four years ago. From Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Dave wanted independence, but still longed for a feeling of familiarity. Growing up in a family of tri-campus alumni, Dave knew that South Bend might have a path for him.Unable to forget the personability that he felt during his HC tour, Dave decided upon Holy Cross.

A TIME FOR GROWTH

Throughout his past four years at Holy Cross, Dave’s views on college have greatly shifted. At first, he approached college as a means to an end; however, he quickly realized that this wasn’t the case at Holy Cross. Instead, his time here provided immense spiritual, academic, and personal growth.

Through his roles as Student Body President, Resident Assistant, Outdoors Club President, tour guide, Student Senator, Campus Ministry Intern, and more, Dave has developed a love for leading and bringing people together with a mission in mind. While doing this, he has collected numerous and diverse friends along the way.

“I am especially proud of the friendships I have made here, and I know that they are going to last forever. Having a circle of friends that is made up of different grades and perspectives makes for a motley crew, but it is an exciting, fun, and life-giving group of people,” Napierkowski said.

Additionally, Dave feels lucky to have been inspired by such great mentors at Holy Cross who find joy in sharing their perspectives, wisdom, and experiences. His natural curiosity and love for people has encouraged him to learn from his peers and Holy Cross faculty.

CULTIVATED MIND AND HEART

Although he is still discerning his next steps,Dave is grateful for his liberal arts education that developed a well-rounded skillset. Aligning with Blessed Basil Moreau’s quote, “the mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart,”Dave pursued Business as his major while also diving into theology and philosophy for a double minor. Above all, he feels confident that with his education from Holy Cross, he can make a positive impact anywhere that he lands.

“Holy Cross gives its students a foundation of faith and morality. I now realize that when I go out into the world and apply these things, it shouldn’t just be for my own self-interest, but rather to contribute to the betterment of the world I find myself in,” Napierkowski shared

“I have stumbled into numerous mentor figures at Holy Cross who are always willing to share their stories, knowledge, and wisdom with me."
